Diamond & Hourly Grinding

Diamond Grinding
the challenge
Existing pavement surfaces, such as highways and runways, develop certain, normal types of deterioration over time. Some of these include slab faulting, rutting and curling. These conditions cause uncomfortable and unsafe traveling conditions as well as accelerated wear to both the surface and the vehicles traveling upon the surface. With enough traffic and time, the surface could become smooth to the point of polishing. A polished highway has a very low skid resistance, particularly when wet. A common result is a dramatic increase in the rate of skidding and hydroplaning accidents.

the solution
Diamond grinding is the most cost-effective and accepted method to restore the pavement to a smooth and safe condition. We utilize diamond-tipped saw blades to remove bumps, lessen depressions in the pavement and blend patched slabs into the specific contour of the pavement. As a residual benefit, grinding leaves a skid-resistant surface that enhances tire traction and provides drainage, which reduces hydroplaning and substantially reduces noise caused by pavement-to-tire contact. Perhaps this is why some states specify a diamond ground texture as the final finish on their new concrete pavements.

We operate eight full-sized grinders with three-foot wide cutting heads and six high-production grinders with four-foot wide cutting heads to complete your project on time and on budget. The quantity and quality of our grinders provide the versatility needed to complete various-sized projects on schedule while minimizing the costs associated with interrupted traffic patterns.

Hourly Grinding
Concrete & Asphalt Pavements
the challenge
Today, pavements are being constructed under new, more-demanding specifications. Ride quality is now a measured criterion. As a result, state agencies have incorporated stringent ride specs on specific surfaces. Inevitably, under these new specifications, even the finest contractors experience a failed ride test on portions of their new concrete or asphalt pavements. Meeting the new ride specifications is difficult, yet critical.

the solution
Our diamond-grinding process coupled with our hourly availability is the solution. Diamond grinding is the most cost-effective and accepted method to restore the pavement to a smooth and safe condition. In fact, in certain states, incentive bonuses can be achieved for increased ride quality after diamond grinding has been performed. Careful interpretation of the "grind into bonus" specification may show the paving contractor how to improve the bottom line.

Our crews can come to your job site and correct the out-of-spec pavement. If you have ride test results, that information can be used to isolate the problem. Or, if you need a surface to be tested or retested, we own and operate profile testing equipment that offers the latest in pavement surface testing laser technology. After the testing-for-ride is performed, we can assist you in evaluating the results. Grinding to meet the specification or grinding into incentive bonus might be the answer. And, we provide hourly grooving service to retexture areas that needed grinding. We are a one-call, full-service contractor when you need help meeting today's new pavement specifications. In addition, we have the flexibility, knowledge, experience and equipment necessary to help you meet these guidelines safely and effectively.
